Today was just a travel day consisting of getting to the airport, getting on the plane and getting to the hotel.
We have had terrible luck getting a rental car. First, we tried to rent from Hertz but one week before the trip the reservation would not show up online so Kevin called them and they said they no longer operate in Quito even though they offer to reserve another car there, it was very frustrating and confusing. Next Kevin rented an SUV from Enterprise and three days into our trip they canceled the reservation saying they do not have the car. Kevin then put in a reservation with Budget but they wanted twice the cost of others so we settled on Europcar.
At Europcar we didn’t get the car we had reserved, and instead got a sedan for a couple of hours while they got our car ready. Finally, around 8pm, we got the “car” we requested, and all we could think was, “hopefully it will make the trip.” Hopefully, everything will go more smoothly with the car for the rest of the trip.
